Suitcase Poem

A young student packs his suitcase, filled with excitement but anxiety

In it are fur jackets and beanies and fur boots and ski goggles

And he plans to buy skis and snowboards and lanterns

For he goes to a place covered in a white blanket

Where the stars shine brightest and the sky is like a green veil

He heads off to Alaska

To feel the pure snow in his hands and under his feet

A place where he can watch the sun set for hours without it going down

He goes here because he wants to experience that which he cannot find

In the land of the samurai where he cannot thrive

For it lacks the adventure that he seeks

But can be found in Alaska’s snowy, white peaks

So he goes yonder on this adventure

Not knowing what awaits him but it is like a quencher

Go forth, does he, to quench the thirst of adventure has he
