Suitcase Poem

I am ordinary, fit, young,

I struggle to hold my tongue

I was once cocky, but now timid,

I’m just an ordinary kid.

I am off to the land of the rising sun,

An opportunity that could be seen as fun,

I will get to travel and explore,

And go on adventures forever more.

Pancho, boots, climber pants, glasses,

I gather my clothes in the masses.

Still, not all, I need my identification, papers, and orders,

Everything I need to cross borders.

That’s all the easy part,

My anxiousness makes my eyes dart,

For this chapter is not forever,

Next I could be stationed wherever,

And with that, friends forgotten,

A restart again with it all for nothing.
