The Journey of a Military Brat

During my childhood, I didn't have the raw experience of living the life of a military brat. I didn't move every two to three years and didn't have parents who would be deployed now and then. Even with that, I grew up in a military environment where I attended Zama Middle High School since eighth grade.

As a student on this military base, I've had to say goodbye to many friends I've made here. Comparing my current life to when I was in eighth grade, I’m surrounded by totally different people from before. There aren't many people here at this school, so everybody knows each other, and people are usually in and out of this program. Having to say goodbye to some of the people hurts at times.

In the end, being a military brat has a lot of challenges. Especially when it comes to making friends. Even with that, I am grateful to be able to experience this life.
