Growing up as a military child is a life filled adventures, challenges, and constant changes. My life has never been rooted in one place for long. Every few years, my family packs up and moves to a new home, sometimes across the world. While this Lifestyle has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures and meet incredible people, it has also meant saying goodbye over and over again.
Making friends quickly is a skill I've had to develop. I know that the friends I make at each duty station might not be in my life forever. But that doesn't stop me from forming strong bonds.
Social media helps us stay connected, but nothing replaces the memories of playing outside on base and exploring new cities together.
One of the hardest parts of being military child is having a parent deployed. There are months, sometimes even a year, when way mom or dad is away, and we must rely on video calls, letters, and care packages to stay connected. I've learned to be strong, not just for myself, but for my family.
Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. Being a military child has taught me resilience, adaptability, and appreciation for diversity. I know that no matter where we move, we’ll be fine.
