The Life as a Military Brat

Born to the sound of boots on the ground,

In every new town, I've learned how to be found.

The echo of orders, the hum of the plane, The thrill of adventure, the shadow of strain.

With each passing year comes another goodbye, A mother's tight hug, a father's goodbye.

New schools, new faces; the drill is the same, Yet every new start feels like a fresh name.

Boxes unpacked, only to pack them again, We form fleeting friendships but never quite win. The race to stay grounded, to call it our home,

While the world keeps spinning, and we're meant to roam.

The flag that we follow, the stars that we see, Shape the hearts of the brave, both you and me.

Strength in the distance, resilience in loss, We carry the weight of the stripes and the cross.

But amidst all the change, one truth remains clear The love of our family is always near.

From base to base, we learn to embrace The life of a wanderer with a warrior's grace.

Through every goodbye and every hello, We carry our roots and watch them all grow.

A military brat. Both proud and free, Bound to the world, yet anchored in memory
