2023/Jolia-

Tears rolled down our faces like rain on a windshield. In the summer of 2021, we got the news that we were moving to Yokota Air Base, Japan. I was so excited because I would still live in the country. Little did we know something was going to change. In the summer of 2021, they had to go to Hawaii for her dad's health reasons. I felt so bad for her and her family. Not only did we spend our last summer together, but we got the most disappointing news we could have ever gotten. We were on a FaceTime call one night, and she told me that she would have to move back to the States because they had better hospitals there and they could support her dad there. This ruined all of our plans for visiting each other during the summer. "I wish we weren't military kids sometimes." I sighed. As months passed, we tried to spend as much time as we could together until we couldn't. We cherished our memories and all of our laughs together. Although it is a bit dramatic, it felt like we were on a hike and forced to take two separate paths. Before I left, we made a promise that we would always stay friends, no matter if we saw each other once a year or once every decade. In conclusion, although it might be hard to be in the military, we have so many more opportunities, and I am so grateful.
