2023/Breanna-

Breanna P...

I just landed in Yokota, Japan with my family. Right as we stepped outside, we felt the heat hit us. We came from Hawaii and the climate/weather over there was warm, though in Japan it was blazing hot. Way hotter than we used to live in. We had to listen to a group of people talking about stuff that you cannot bring into Japan. Which was really boring. My dad’s boss was walking our dog Brodie, after our long flight from Hawaii after we were done getting our bags.

It was the summer of 2021 and my little sister said, “I am so hot I feel like I'm a melting popsicle.” After we got to our house, we picked our rooms and got settled in. I wasn't that happy because I missed my friends from Hawaii, where we used to be stationed. I was also very tired after our 8 hour, flight and I could see my family getting pretty tired as well. After we got everything, we needed. It was already late and we ate our dinner. There were these loud bugs called cicadas and they were really loud and annoying.

“These cicadas are so loud they are like an alarm clock,” I said. Which was true although it was pretty soothing after I got used to it. I took a shower and got in my bed listening to the cicadas outside my window. After a few minutes I fell asleep listening to the sound of cicadas for my first night in Japan.
