Being a military child, I experience things that most “ordinary” kids don't get to experience. One opportunity that I got to experience was going to Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. It was early spring of 2020, and my mom, my dad, my younger sisters, Avarie and Autumn were residing in Iwakuni, Japan. One day my mom and dad surprised me, “Surprise! We are going to visit your great grandparents in Vientiane, then we are just gonna explore around there for 3 weeks.” they both exclaimed.

My sister Avarie was so thrilled, “Do we have to go? I don't wanna!” she cried. But it was already settled and we were leaving in a couple of days. We finally arrived at the capital of Laos Vientiane, it was as hot as a roaring fire. Once we got a cab, we drove for about an hour to get to my grandparent's house. On the way there we looked at all the rich culture that was around us, the beautiful golden temples. After we had arrived, we stayed with them for about a week, then we were off to Vietnam.

Later when we got to Vietnam, we scheduled a cruise in Halong bay for 2 days, I think that was one of the most memorable life-changing experiences for me. The scenery of the bay was breathtaking, the air almost smelled sweet, and it was fresh. During those 2 days, we swam in the water then took smaller boats and explored. Then to top off our whole trip we went to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, from there we rode elephants, took a cooking class, and we shopped at the floating market. I am extremely grateful to be a military child because of all the remarkable opportunities I encounter. Most kids aren't as lucky as me and just stay in one place but I on the other hand have many astonishing experiences being a military child.
