I’m from the Island of Enchantment, From festival music and late night parties I am from the rice and beans under the clear skies. Fried chicken and cornbread it smelled like home I am from the soft sandy beach The drums Whose beat I remember As if they were my own.
I’m from Employment Specialist and Mechanic. From gamers and food. I am from the base with friends. And home alone. From I love you and you’re grounded. I’m from dandelions drifting in the wind With a soothing sound And ten video games I can win myself I am from basketball nets and team games Slam dunks and three pointers From the memories lost To the memories kept Used to keep me falling off my feet.
Under my bed was a purple box Spilling out recollections I loved A nod to the past of my life To drift beneath my dreams I’m from those moments Lost before I arrived. I am a dandelion hanging from the family tree.
