Kadena Elementary School
Dear Reader, My name is Juliette Jordan, I am eleven years old and in fifth grade. When I was 10 in fourth grade I lived in California. My mother got offered a job in Okinawa, Japan. We accepted the offer as a family and began to move in February. When we got to Okinawa we stayed in a hotel on base since we didn’t have a house yet. I started school in March. I lived on base so I would get to walk to and from school every day. Once two weeks of school passed by, I moved to a new house off base so I had to go to a different school. When we moved, in my new school were many children who had a parent in the military. Once school ended some weren’t in 5th grade like me because they had left Okinawa, Japan. I had to make new friends as well. My mother wouldn’t be home right away after school. That is what my life was like as a military child. Sincerely, Juliette Jordan
