My Military Child Story

I was born in Okinawa, Japan on April 24th, 2009. My family and I headed to California since that is where we were given orders. My family and I spent 4 or 5 years there. After that we headed to North Carolina. I started Kindergarten at a public school since we lived off base. After Kindergarten we moved houses so we moved on base. After the move I spent my 1st-4th grade years at the DODEA school on base. There I made lots of friends, learned a lot of things and my little sister Sadie was born. After the summer of fourth grade, we moved from nice, hot, sunny North Carolina to cold, windy, snowy Missouri. We lived in St. Robert and we lived on this HUGE mountain where they built houses. After a while, we had to move again because we didn’t want to buy the house. We moved to Waynesville which is right next to our old house and not far away. Once Spring Break came during 5th grade, Covid-19 hit and we went virtual. So I spent my first months inside the new house being virtual. That summer I didn’t have a lot of friends and it was cold there so I spent a lot of time inside. But I played a lot in my ENORMOUS backyard and with my sister Sadie. Then my baby sister Kylie was born a little while after I started sixth grade off base. They didn’t have any middle schools or high schools on base so all the students went to school off base. After my seventh grade year in middle school my dad got orders to go to Japan. I was really sad cause I had a lot more friends and I wouldn’t be able to see my other family and I wouldn’t get to drive my dad’s truck when I turned 16. I was also scared of the plane ride there. But after we landed in Japan I saw that it was actually pretty cool there. I was excited to start school there so I could meet new people. I didn’t have any friends on the first day but then I met Jada, Kandie, and Madison. Now we’re all really good friends. Soon later I met Ashley who I have a lot in common with and I met more and more friends. After that I was no longer sad to move here. I love it here and I’m gonna be sad when I have to leave. So that’s my Military Child Story.
