My story may seem typical of a military child. I have moved to many places during my life. This is the second time I have lived in Japan. The first time I was young, but now I am a teenager. I haven’t been here very long, but I have already made friends. Friendships are easily made because most other kids on base share common backgrounds. They understand me and the experiences I have had. I like living on base because there is a feeling of safety walking past the gates of entry and being able to freely walk around. I also love that the men and women here on base are so supportive that I feel I could ask anyone here for help when I need it. Although being on a military base is fun and helps to make me the best person I can be, there comes the sacrifices of leaving my old school and friends behind. I also do not get to see both my parents at the same time since they are stationed at two different bases. Additionally, I miss all the fun things I used to do in the United States, like going to the Trampoline Park and my favorite foods. But even though I miss some of those things, I am enjoying this adventure here in Japan.
