Hi, I am Celine Williams and being a military child is awesome because it is fun when you move around the world. It is extremely fun and awesome to see different places. I am able to meet new people, make new friends, and get new experience. I think when you make lots of friends, it is going to be exciting to know about friends so make lots of new friends!!!!!!!

PROS

First, when you go to different countries, some people want to learn that language. Learning different languages is really fun because you can talk to different people and enjoy their language. With me being in Japan, I want to learn Japanese. For example, when meeting a new person, in English I would say “hello,” but in Japanese, I would say “Konnichiwa.” Saying hello is a start to making new friends. Hooray!!!!

Second, being able to go to different places means we get to try different types of food. Some foods I like after I try and some foods I don’t. One time, my family and I visited New York City. New York is famous for its pizza. When we visited New York, we went to a famous pizza place and there were so many different pizzas. It was hard to pick which pizza I wanted for myself because there were too many choices to choose from. The pizza slices were so big!!!!!!!!!!

Third, being a military child means we get to explore. We get to see different places, see different styles of houses, restaurants, people and views. When I go to see different places, I always like to take pictures, especially if I have my tablet. I always keep the memories in my tablet. When we lived in Virginia, we explored Virginia, we visited Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, and Florida.

Fourth, I also like to try new things. For example, when I lived in Virginia, my parents surprised me to go to Great Wolf Lodge. It was my first time seeing a huge indoor pool. I will never forget about that experience.

Last, being in a military family is a great opportunity because I can make new friends. I would like to meet new people because I am interested in making new friends and we get to know each other and it might be my other best friend

Cons

One thing that is not great in being a military child is that you have to leave friends. I left some great friends in Virgina. I was sad that I had to leave my friends. We did so many things together like playing, going to birthday parties, being partners, and being silly. I have a lot of friends but sometimes I have trouble making some friends.

Another thing that’s not great about being a military child is that sometimes my dad has to leave. One time my dad had to leave home for a while and I really missed him. I missed him because he was not at home. He was not there to play with us, read to us, take us to the park, give us a bath and cook his favorite food.

Leaving the things you know is another thing that’s not great about being a military child. For example, when I left Virgina I had to leave one thing that I loved which is flag football. I was hoping that Okinawa would have that same flag football like Virginia but it does not. Leaving my school is another thing that I had to leave. I knew where everything was at and where my friends would be.
