Being a military child can be challenging for everybody, it’s hard for me and probably for you too. For example, I have to leave my one of BFFs, Ally, in the states! I also had to leave my grandparents in Georgia when I moved to Okinawa. It was really sad. In fact, I still miss them and I also had to get used to where I moved like when I moved to Okinawa, it felt weird when I got to my new house. It started from Hawaii, to the U.S, to Okinawa! I honestly don’t like moving around too much. My dad also has to leave for deployment sometimes when I was about four or five when my dad had to leave on deployment for a long time! My mom and I missed him a lot.
I know I told you the downs of being a military child but now let me tell you the ups now! One of the reasons it's great to be a military child is you get to travel the world more than some people, some people can’t travel the world until they're adults For example, I have traveled across to places all over! Hawaii, to the U.S, and to today in Okinawa Another reason is because every move they have different cultures that are fun to learn about, like the Japanese and Hawaiian. You also have a chance to make new friends. When I left my friends in the states, I was able to make new friends when I moved to Okinawa. My friends and I are having so much fun now! You could also try new foods, my personal favorite Okinawan dish is the ramen!
So you see, being a military child can be hard and fun. There are ups and downs to being one. But the ones I listed are only a few, some people have more challenging experiences or more amazing ups. If you are a military child keep it up out there and be strong! You got this! Your life might be hard, but power through it, think of all the good that could happen.
