I am a military kid

A dandelion, they say

It is meant as a compliment

An odd one, in a way.

I am sure it is poetical

I can appreciate that.

But one label seems nonsensical,

why call us brats?

I did some research

And my finds were historical,

British Regiment Attached Traveler

The source of our name, somewhat allegorical.

I find it surprising

That we still use this moniker

When we are a part

of Britain no longer

Names survive

That much is true

But could we not strive

to change them too?

A name as a label may fall short

but a Military kid is so much more

Brave and smart, strong as a fort

Acronyms and flora are just part of the score.

Brave and strong

with purple powers.

Take a moment to recognize,
