Life as a Military Child

My name is Niko. My brother's name is Jax. I was born in Sasebo, Japan. My favorite food is cucumber, and my favorite sport is rugby. I have is a Boston terrier. I have lived in Okinawa, Sasebo, San Diego, and California. My favorite place to live is Okinawa, because there are beaches there, and my grandma andgrandpa and my cousin live there. The hardest part about being a military child, is when your dad deploys is having to do everything while he’s gone. I would love to go to visit Africa, because I think they have beautiful beaches.

An Interview with My Dad

My Dad is 36 years old. He was born and raised in California. He likes to coach rugby and play Airsoft. His favorite foods are Mexican food and Japanese foods. His favorite dessert is frozen yogurt. He likes to relax and play games and clean.

His official job is a Navy Cook. Right now, he’s a Department Leader. He leads over 30 people. He loves traveling around the world. If it weren’t for the Navy, he would never have lived in Japan or never met my Mom in Okinawa. He got to swim with alligators in Australia and try different foods from around the world.

It’s hard for him when he has to move, because he doesn’t like having his kids always having to change schools or find new friends. It’s challenging having to move all the time. He loves seeing us kids grow up and be strong and brave, especially when we have to move and start over. He has been living overseas most of his career, so, Japan is my second home.
