I am from the gondola under the bridge,

It smelled like seafood.

I am from Comic-Con,

The Iron Man author

Whose stories I remember

As if they were my own.

I am from the hilarious and the nice,

From good cooking and the artistic.

I am from the comic books

And the action figures,

From Ninja Turtles and X-men.

I am from the video games

With a Nintendo switch

And ten power-ups I can find myself.

I’m from Lunar New Year and subways,

Chuseok and temples.

From the dog lost to PCS

To the road trips used to keep me happy.

Under my bed was a green box spilling comic books,

A flowing river of memories

To drift beneath my dreams.

I am from those moments -

Thinking before I do,

I am a leaf growing on the family tree.
