From evergreen forests and Mount Rainier

I am from Pearl Harbor under the American flags

It smelled like freedom

I am from the Garden of the Gods

The sandstone formations

Whose sharp peaks I remember

As if they were my own.

I am from the Cave of the Winds and Pike’s Peaks

From the Avalanche and tall mountains

I am from the bubbling springs

And the high plains from natural wonder and breathtaking views

I am from Minecraft

With an Ender dragon

And ten constructions I can build myself

I am from rice paddies and cranes

Tile roofs and magpies

From the friends lost to the PCS

To the school used to keep me happy.

Under my bed was a container spilling keepsakes

Memories of long ago

To drift beneath my dreams.

I am from those moments

From the moment before I saw the memories

I am a leaf that will see things from the family tree.
