We finally arrived at the new base. Me and my family had been driving for two days on our move to Georgia from Maine. The base was nice, my school was very extravagant. Everyone was staring at me and our family, I could feel their eyes watching my every move. Everyone else already had a group of friends, and now it was my task to find one.
My very first class was fun, everyone was inviting. A girl with golden curls and gorgeous green eyes began to walk towards me. “Hey, I’m Lila! Are you new?” She asked as she sat next to me. “Hi, I’m Talia! Yes, I am new!” She agreed to show me around and help me figure out my classes. She stuck with me for the rest of the day, teaching me the way of the school. I had finally made my very first friend in this new amazing world.
At lunch she introduced me to her friends, Mayah, Zuri, and Kate. They taught me what I was supposed to do in the lunch line and let me sit with them. We talked about what it was like here and how each person acts. They showed me who and who not to talk to. I felt very welcomed in this small community of kind and caring people. Thankfully, I had at least one of my new friends in every class. They introduced me to more people and my social life expanded in amazing lengths.
After the first week I was invited to one of the girls' birthday parties. I was overjoyed that she saw me as such a good and close friend after only being here a week. When I got there we jumped on the first water slide we saw, as her party was at a water park. I felt the most included I had ever been since the move and it was all because of these girls that took me in and made sure I felt special. I will never forget my old friends, but these people will forever hold a special place in my heart.
