As a military working dog It’s exciting and full of essential tasks. I wake up every day, lying next to my handler, Sergeant Jake, who is already up and writing in his notebook. The smell of coffee fills the air. I stretch and let out a happy bark because I know today will be another mission.
“Hey, Max, ready to go?” Jake says with a smile, scratching behind my ears. I wag my tail in response. Days like this always fill me with energy and purpose.
After a quick breakfast, we travel to the motor pool where our armored vehicle waits. I hop into my harness, and Jake talks to the team, sharing important details for the mission. “Today, we’ll be checking the village for any dangerous materials. Keep your eyes open,” he instructs. I can feel the seriousness of the moment. I’ve trained hard for this, and I know my nose will help keep everyone safe.
Once we arrive at the village, I start sniffing the air. The sounds of people talking mix with the earthy smell of dust and flowers around me. “Are you ready to work, boy?” Jake asks. I bark again, eager to do my job.
As we walk through the village, I suddenly pick up an unusual scent. I stop and focus. “What’s wrong, Max?” Jake whispers. I crouch and keep my nose to the ground, alerting him to the danger. “Stay sharp, everyone!” he calls to the team, and they move into position.
A moment later, I found a Bomb! Jake crouches next to me, his eyes showing pride. “Good job, Max! You just helped save lives,” he praises, patting me.
After the mission is over, I feel proud. I know I’m not just Jake’s dog; I’m part of a team that helps protect people every single day.
