Creative Writing-Military child

Being a military child has its ups and downs, one of them is moving due to orders from one of your parents. It could be a good thing depending on where you are moving to, but it’s sad when you have to leave your friends behind. I’ve lived in multiple places throughout my life, from Virginia, California, South Carolina, back to California, and Okinawa Japan. My father is in the military and my family spent quite a bit of time with him being gone, mostly in my early life. I grew up with my mom and my two older brothers, my dad would get the order of deployment and will have to go somewhere for weeks or months. My family and I missed him so much that we decided to move to South Carolina to be with him. It takes a long time to adjust to a new place. Waiting for the furniture to arrive and sleeping on an air mattress or spending days in a hotel. My father has given so much time to the military that he will retire soon, he is in a position where he is mostly the decision maker, he talks with us and asks what's best for the family. Going to Okinawa was one of those decisions, living in a different country is fun and provides opportunities that most kids won’t experience.
