If I Were Poem

If I were a color, I would be indigo

The shade between blue and violet

A hue found in most everything

So vibrant and yet, silent

Present in the ocean waves

I spill over every coast

As I paint my way through the planets

Once you find me then I go

I never stop to catch your eye

Only leaving behind a trace

I whisper hello and shout goodbye

In a never ending chase

Once you find me I’m hard to forget

Like a jazz tune you only hear once

But just as you wonder how I was made

I leave in a very big rush

I impact the lives of so many people

Having been to many a place

They won’t forget my impact on them

But they won’t remember my face

To be always forgotten

It may seem sad to know

But for every person that I meet

I embrace and change and grow

If you want to find me

Just stop and look and blink

Don’t fret, for this hue between blue and violet

Is more abundant than you think
