From the Land of the Morning Calm and kimchi.

I am from the many mountains under the sun.

It smelled like amazing food.

I am K-pop,

The dancing BTS member

Whose catchy songs I remember

as if they were my own.

I am from Dentist and Stay- at- Home

From clean teeth and good cooking.

I am from the beaches

And the purple mountains

From “Paxton!!” and “Don’t play games!”

I am from the waterfronts

With a gentle breeze

And ten goals I can make myself.

I’m from rice and burgers,

Soccer player and gamer.

From the kimchi lost to the tiger

To the family used to keep me safe.

Under my bed was a purple backpack spilling all my blue and yellow memories,

A deep sea of positive and negative.

To drift beneath my dreams.

I am from those moments-

When I was in Korean school before I PCSd.

I am a dandelion that moves with the family tree.
