Hi, I am Edie. I am 11 years old, and I live in Japan. Being a military child has advantages and disadvantages.

You can have many different experiences when you are a military child but one of the best ones is traveling. I've been to so many places like Spain, Paris, San Diego, and many more cool places. Another thing you get to experience is different holidays. Sometimes they have special days and months just for us. This month is month of the military child, this month is just for us.

There are also challenges to being a military child. I have had to get rid of my pets. This is because your family can’t have more than two pets. Another challenge is having to leave friends behind. Although, you can still stay in touch with them through phone, it's hard to have leave one of your best friends. A major challenge is deployments. This is when one of your parents has to leave for work. The amount of time they can be on a deployment for can range from one week to two years.

In conclusion, there are many challenges and amazing experiences. Some advice I would give is that you have to stay positive even when you move somewhere that you don't think you will like. Being a military child is a gift and you should be grateful for being different and being able to go to so many different places.
